Founded in December of 2004, the Stage and Screen Production Company is the brainchild of Local theatre director JC Conway, New York actor Heather Gadol, and Portland film maker Scott Piekarczyk. The idea was to create a complete production company, allowing actors the opportunity to work in both film and on stage, and directors the freedom to stretch their imaginations in multi-media productions. For organizational sake, the film side was called Studio 47 and is under the direction of Scott Piekarczyk, while the theatre side is named Theatre /verv/, and is under the direction of JC Conway. Using Bar 145 as a production space, Stage and Screen Production Company kicked off it’s first season (or season .5) with a Theatre /verv/ a multi-media production of Irvine Welsh’s Trainspotting in February of 2005. This was followed up with a production of David Ives All in the Timing in April.

During the Summer of 2005, Studio 47 took on the daunting task of filming a short film set in the Star Wars Universe. Titled Volition, this Star Wars fan film, is an 18 minute long lightsaber fight set in a small bar. Wire work and special effects abound.
For it’s first full season theatre /verv/ presented local award winning playwright Franklin Ashley’s The Delta Dancer in October. In December theatre /verv/ returned for the holiday season with The Eight: Reindeer Monologues by Jeff Goode.
Theatre /verv/ closed out its first season with Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, the famous comedy by Tom Stoppard.
In the fall of 2006 a new /verv/, under the guidence of David Barr, Jan Gilbert, Beth Curley, and JC Conway, moved to the Map Room in West Ashley for a run of the critically acclaimed show Closer by Patrick Marber. Unfortunatly this move didn't prove to be a succesful one, and the four split to persue individual projects.
After three seasons of directing for Footlights LateNight series, JC Conway decided to give /verv/ another shot. This time in the revitalized Park Circle area of North Charleston, and at an already established theatre space, South of Broadway Theater Co. With a full company of actors, an actual theater space, and full season lined up, /verv/ is back.
