Taming of the Shrew PDF Print E-mail
Image

/verv/ presents Shakespeare’s classic battle of the sexes as only they can. Dear old Baptista has a problem. His youngest daughter Bianca is the apple of his eye, and unfortunately every eligible bachelor in Padua, while his older daughter, Kate, is so tempestuous she has been labeled the Shrew of Padua. The bachelor’s are in an equal bind as the only way one of them can marry Bianca, is for someone to marry Kate first. Fortunately the young noble Petruchio has just arrived on the scene, and he may be just the man to Tame this Shrew. What follows is an uproarious battle for control, and who knows how it may end. While modern adaptations such as Kiss me, Kate and 10 Things I Hate About You, have seen great success, Shakespeare’s original text has been considered controversial due to supposed misogynistic undertones. But trust in /verv/ to bring a lively, humorous and interesting version to the North Charleston stage.
